A proposed bill is circulating in Austin to ban people from using food stamps to buy junk food.
The bill filed by State Rep Briscoe Cain of Baytown states that you will not be allowed to use food stamps that contains more than 54 milligrams of caffeine. Coffee would NOT be included.
It also states that you cannot buy sweetened or carbonated beverages, some potato or corn chips, cookies and candies. You can buy fruit or vegetable juices with SNAP.
